Petey Gray at Starbucks

Petey Gray is a real boy in a dog’s body- I swear!  About 5 yrs ago, my husband was working in Washington, DC.  He called me and said, “I found a little dude and I’m bringing him home.”  I was like, “Huh? Who??”  Then he described this funny little dog (I didn’t want a dog) that skipped when he walked, with VERY short legs and a big nose.  No one had reported him missing at the Animal Shelter and Jim just had to save him from certain death.  So we became the proud owners of a very funny Jack Russell/Corgi.  He is the light of our lives and brings so much joy to our home.  Pete is a person with a fur coat on:  He smiles ALL THE TIME.  He LOVES going to Starbucks.  He yells (barks) for the kids to get the phone.  He watches TV.  He LOVES to go sledding and jet-skiing.  We love him dearly.  Petey Gray even has his own facebook page with 166 friends.  Go friend him!  (With all the depressing news lately, I figure it’s good to get a laugh anywhere we can!)

This is his "seal face" when he wants to look exceptionally cute!

Eve and Noah

These little sweeties came all the way from England to visit their grandmother~ I must say that there is NOTHING cuter than an adorable 2 yr old with a British accent!  And her 7 month old baby brother was so smiley and squeezable, I could have eaten him with a spoon…

Sue McFarland - These shots are just wonderful, Whitney!! What lens did you use? Especially for the beautiful indoor shots? Thanks for sharing these. Makes me wish I had a horse just so I can visit there!

whit - Thanks, Sue! I used the 70-200 for most of the outdoor shots… it was a challenge trying to catch a Jack Russell running full blast!

Sue McFarland - And did you use it for the indoor shots, too?

whit - No, I used the 50 1.2 and 24-70 for the indoor shots.

Summertime Art~ Food

It’s almost too pretty to eat… ALMOST.

And now for a quick recipe for Blackberry Cobbler from my beloved grandmother, Nanny…

Easy Blackberry Cobbler

2 cups blackberries (or other fruit such as peaches)

1 cup sugar

1 stick butter

3/4 cup sifted flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/8 tsp salt

3/4 cup milk

Melt butter in a deep 2-quart baking dish at 350 degrees in the oven. Make a batter of sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and milk.  Pour batter over the melted butter. DO NOT STIR! Put fruit on top. DO NOT STIR! Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour (I like it a little brown on top.)  Enjoy!

Taylor - Whit-I just love it! Makes me wish that I was at the farmers market. Are these your “farewell to Summer, bring on the snow” pictures?!

Kristi - whitney…these are just beautiful!! I’d say you have little or nothing left to learn!

Greg Fritzler - These are great. Mouthwatering actually! I can’t wait try the cobbler recipe too. Thanks.

Kaylee

Cute Kaylee is a “SEENYA” (that’s how she says SENIOR in her southern accent) :)

Kristi - love your take on the pronunciation!! Such great images, Whit!
