Barnful of Quilts: Quilt Show in Waxhaw!

{Edited to add pictures- See Below}

My mom is hosting the sixth annual quilt show on Saturday from 10 am- 5 pm at gorgeous Fox Farms!  You really don’t want to miss this:  hundreds of quilts, hanging from the rafters of the barn.  If you appreciate art, this event is for you.  “This AIN’T your momma’s quilt show”- lots of incredible works of art- beading, applique’, batik fabrics.  Vendors will be selling some of their work and fabrics, along with a bake sale, pottery, and yarns.  Check out my mom’s website: Fox Farms Click on “Barnful of Quilts” at the top of the screen to see 4 photo albums with pictures from past shows.  I will be there taking pictures!  Where else do you get to see quilts, llamas, a donkey, and horses- all in one day?  See you there!

There was one particularly interesting and unique quilt- and that’s saying A LOT considering the talent represented-  called “Under the Eyes of Queen Charlotte” by Debbie Langsam.  The quilt is a mosiac of tiny pictures of historic Charlotte.  It’s amazing!!

Here is Debbie’s description of her quilt:  “It was made to honor Warren Burgess, an iconoclastic city planner and artist from Charlotte. Warren, a familiar figure in Charlotte’s neighborhoods, lobbied tirelessly to preserve the city’s history while embracing its future. I wanted to celebrate Warren’s life by bringing together the old and new of the city about which he so passionately cared. The quilt is comprised of hundreds of photos from Charlotte’s past and present. From a distance, an image of two eyes emerges; the eyes belong to the “Queen Charlotte” statue, found in uptown Charlotte.”
